“Between Faces”

Blends blind drawing with rich oil-stick color, exploring the tension between subconscious lines and human emotion. The series marks a shift toward deeper psychological expression in my work.

Series emerged three years after the “Subconscious Lines” series. After a long inner battle—and a longing for more substance than lines alone—I began experimenting with new materials. Eventually, I discovered oil sticks, and they became the foundation for this entire series.

Instead of creating loose color combinations, I felt drawn to color with meaning and psychological weight. That’s where blind drawing and color came together. The charcoal lines from my subconscious drawing practice were now filled with a thick, tactile medium that felt satisfying to work with. For the first time, the pieces felt complete.

Blind drawing continued to give me the most intriguing lines and shapes. My task was simply to define them and give them emotional resonance through color.

This series left me with the sense that I am finally getting closer to what people call “my voice”—a more authentic painting style that feels like my own. Although intuitive in nature, the shifting human faces and abstract shapes in the work bring a psychological twist, inviting viewers to find their own reflections in the spaces between the faces.
